چکیده

امروزه شاید کمتر کسی با تکنولوژی سیستم ­های اطلاعات جغرافیایی یا GIS  آشنا نباشد. این تکنیک از دهه هفتاد به دنبال ورود امکانات سخت افزاری به دنیای علم و تکنولوژی پا به عرصه وجود نهاد و سپس در بخش مدیریت و برنامه ­ریزی در زمینه منابع  طبیعی در کانادا مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. با ورود امکانات جدید، که به رایانه ­ها سرعت و ظرفیت افسانه­ ای در مقایسه با اجداد خود داده است، جهش بسیار عظیمی در این زمینه سبب گردید به شکلی که استفاده از GIS یا به تعبیری مدیریت اطلاعات مکانی از عرصه­ های وسیع منابع طبیعی شامل جنگل­ ها، مراتع و منابع آبی (نظیر اقیانوس­ ها، دریاها و دریاچه ­ها) حتی به کوچکترین اجزای زندگی بشر نظیر منازل و اتومبیل ­ها وارد شده است.
با توجه به کاربرد وسیع این تکنیک که جبنه علمی و نظری آن برجنبه تکنیکی آن پیش گرفته است و نیاز علاقه­ مند به دانستن پیشرفت­ هایی که در این زمینه به وقوع می­ پیوندد، این مقاله تحت عنوان کنسرسیوم کاربرد GIS در منابع آب جهت طراحی مدل­ های شیءگرا از منبع ARC News Vol.21 No.4-Winter:199/2000- ترجمه شده و تقدیم می­ گردد، باشد که مورد استفاده علاقه ­مندان واقع شود.

Today, there are probably few people not familiar with the technology of Geographic Information System or GIS. This technique has existed since the 1970s and following the introduction of hardware facilities into the world of science and technology, and was then used in the Canadian Department of Natural Resources Management and Planning. With the arrival of new facilities, which gave computers a legendary speed and capacity compared to their ancestors, a huge progress has occurred in this area so that utilization of GIS, or spatial information management, has entered different fields: vast arenas of natural resources including forests, pastures and water resources (such as the oceans, seas and lakes), and even the smallest parts of human life such as homes and cars.
Considering the widespread application of this technique, whose scientific and theoretical aspects have overtaken its technical dimension, and the need of the enthusiasts to be aware of the advancements in this field, this paper, under the title “The Consortium of GIS Application for Water Resources with the Aim of Designing Object-Oriented Models” is translated from the source ARC News Vol.21 No.4-Winter: 199/2000; hopefully it will be useful for interested people.
